DOUG DAWSON, M.S., M.B.A

Doug Dawson is the manager of school redesign and transformation at the Texas Education Agency.  His work at the agency is dedicated to supporting the turnaround and restart of the state’s lowest performing campuses.

Doug’s journey in education began as a Teach for America corp member in Dallas, TX where he served as a middle school teacher in a Title I charter school.  Upon completing his corp experience, Doug completed his MBA at Rice University as part of the university’s education entrepreneurship program (REEP).  He also served as a teacher and administrator with YES Prep Public schools, leading the launch of Fifth Ward High School.

Prior to joining the Texas Education Agency,  Doug served as the Portfolio Director at Choose to Succeed. Doug supported the vetting and launch of over 10 new high-performing charter school campuses as well as supporting city-wide education reform initiatives.
