Farewell, Intern Kelsey!

Last week, we said farewell to our intern Kelsey. She joined the hH team in August and spent the entire school year interning with us. Kelsey filled an instrumental role in our delivery of vision care. She got certified to conduct vision and hearing screenings and helped run eye exam clinics. She wrote the procedures manual for using our optical equipment and produced 135 pairs of prescription glasses for children. She also picked out the 200+ new frame options we will be offering as our new collection next school year! Thank you for setting the bar so high, Kelsey. We will definitely miss you!

Giving Circle Welcomes Inaugural Members

There are many giving circles in Austin including Impact Austin and the Hispanic Impact Fund. The hH Giving Circle is a way for you, our caring network of friends and supporters, to get more involved in half Helen, without contributing a lot of time. Members make a monthly membership contribution of $100 per month and meet for lunch once a year to vote on which half Helen program to collectively support. We are looking forward to seeing the great work that will be supported by our inaugural members!

half Helen proudly welcomes the inaugural members of our new Giving Circle: Christin Alvarado, Nadia Barbot, Angie Bealko, Rhonda Bryant, Dr. Mark Dworsky, Teresa Elliott, and Jenna Holmes. There’s still time for you to become an inaugural member, contact Meghan at meghan@halfhelen.org for more information.

Ribbon Cutting and 8th Birthday Celebration Fundraiser

Mark your calendars for Saturday, June 5! We are hosting the best birthday celebration by launching optical Prime! Join us for light refreshments, tours of optical Prime, and great party games where you will have a chance to sponsor children’s eye care aboard our new mobile eye clinic!

There are just a few steps remaining as we prepare optical Prime for its debut. Last Friday, we moved all of our optometric equipment into the mobile eye clinic. This week, the outside wrap, generously designed by HCB Health, will be applied, followed by last minute touch ups. The final step is to pass the TXDOT inspection later this month. We are so excited and can’t wait for you to meet optical Prime in person. RSVP recommended, but not required.
