Seth Rau
Seth currently works as the Senior Manager, Policy, at Empower Schools, responsible for designing policies and strategies to support autonomous district schools in Texas and across the country. Previously, he served as the Director of Legislative and Strategic Affairs for the San Antonio Independent School District where he led the district’s state and federal advocacy efforts, most notably helping efforts to pass laws to incentivize district/charter collaboration and school finance reforms. In addition, he oversaw the district’s partnership with City Year, Communities in Schools, and other district partners.
Before moving to Texas, he helped start up Nevada Succeeds as its first Policy Director, an education non-profit in the Silver State dedicated towards bringing a business voice to creating better schools. He began his career as a 5th grade teacher at a low income school in Las Vegas.
Seth has a B.A. in International Relations and Political Science from Tufts University and an M.B.A. from the McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas at Austin.
